Fermin Whittaker, Horacio (Ray) and Florence Jones

This last Friday, Fermin and I went to a celebration – Family Bible Fellowship, celebrated their Pastor and First Lady for their 20th anniversary with them, and also for Rev. & Mrs. Jones 26 years in the ministry.  The church showed their love in a very special way all week-end long.  Fermin and I were honored to have been a part of this wonderful evening.

Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be.  My Father will honor the one who serves me.  (John 12:26)

Ordered The Wrong Lens :(

Canon 50mm f1.4

After saving for about 3 years all the loose change in my purse (and Fermin’s pockets also) I finally counted it and it came up to $469.95!!!  My plans were to order a lens for my camera.  I went ahead and order it, but in my haste to place the order I order the wrong lens.  When it came I new immediately that I needed a 50mm instead of an 85mm.  My problem was that after using it for a couple of days, I felt in love with it.  It was so hard to return it, but I did.  I just hope I don’t have to wait another 3 years to get it back :(

Fermin and I were talking about how people can feel alone even when you are with a love one most of the time.  This day and age you can be with a person in the same room and each one can be so busy with their computers.  Hours and hours can pass and not only you have not said a word, but you have not even looked at each other.  It can happen so easily.

photo-60Last night I got home from a long week-end – typed my post for that day – title it “ Ministry and Photography ” put up several photos and when I woke up this morning, to my suprise, the number of people that went to my blog sky rocket!!  I thought “Carmen, you hit on something girl” until I talked with Carlos.  He had a link in his blog to my blog!!! now that explains it – and I thought it was all me! ;)

As you have observed, I been getting more and more into photography.  This week-end we spend a couple of days in San Diego and an overnight in Sacramento.  In San Diego I was able to spent some time by myself and took tons of photos in the Seaport Village area.

then off to Eddie and Katie’s for dinner.  We had dinner outside and it was a beautiful setting.

We left San Diego Saturday morning right after Fermin preached, stopped in San Clemente to visit some friends.  Made it to the hotel by 10:00 pm.  What a day!

Fermin preached, made some presentations to the Philipino Pastor, a church member of Madison Ave. Baptist Church,  had lunch with the pastor and his wife; Gino and Betty and we were on the road by 2:00 pm.  Even though were were tired we were glad to be out and about.  God is good.

Do you answer the phone every time it rings?  If I don’t recognize the number I don’t answer it.  When Fermin is around and the phone rings and I’m closer to the phone, he just gives me that look, oh well.   If it’s someone that wants to talk with me, they will live a message, right?   Nancy’s or Eddie’s phone calls don’t show their numbers, so most of the time I don’t answer their calls and that is the only time I feel bad.  Nancy usually talks to the machine “Hey, Carmen, answer the phone.  Are you screening your calls?” “Yes, I’m screening my calls”.   Before I thought that screening your calls was bad, now I don’t think, with so many telemarketers and some of them are getting so aggressive that if you don’t give in to whatever they want you to get, they can get perty rough.

I find that I answer e-mails faster than returning calls.  Fermin thinks that when I was a little girl someone traumatized me with a telephone.  Who knows, maybe he’s right :(

Last Tuesday I became a fan of our Mayor Ashley Swearengin, our Fresno Mayor, I could tell she has a heart for the city of Fresno.  Her and her husband sat at our table and shared her dreams and hopes.

Sorry, no pictures of the event :(  I don’t know what took over me, I felt intimidated taking my camera out and taking pictures.  Fermin was used by God preaching to a full room.   There were at least five  tables full  of our  friends,  I felt loved.   The  breakfast  started  at  6:30 am! and they were there present and accounted for.  I really appreciated all of you getting up so early to be there.  Thank you.
