Bitter Sweet

It was a great Memorial Service for Dr. Oscar I. Romo.  Nelson Romo, Oscar’s Son; Eduardo DoCampo, a friend; Dr. Bill Self, Oscar’s Pastor; and my husband, officiated at the memorial service.  Miriam Reynolds, Oscar’s daughter; played the piano.

We cried, we laughed and we remembered Oscar’s life and accomplishments.  Ethnic ministry in the Southern Baptist Convention is what it is because of Oscar’s passion that every man, woman and child understand the gospel in their language.

I had the opportunity of seeing many people I had not seen in many years, people I worked with while living in Atlanta, people I went to church with and people that were my neighbors.  It was good to be there.

Let’s continue to pray for the Romo family, especially for Merry, his wife.

Later on we headed to Carlos’ home to see Carlos, Heather and the grandkids!  Heather joined us later on.  It was a short visit, but we managed to go and eat pizza.  There is always time for pizza :)
