Happy Birthday Blanca!!!

Blanca was my baby sister for about 10 years.  She is kind, giving and loves her son Paul.  I don’t get to see her often, but when I do, we always say we should get together and we don’t.

Blanca, I wanted to tell you today, that you are God’s masterpiece, and that you have a God-given potential.  I love you sister.

pecom_logo2The Riverside, CA news paper Press-Enterprise has written an article on Mark Lamberth’s amazing connection with people all over the world through the Internet.  You can read the article here

The Press-Enterprise said:  Perhaps the biggest response came after (Carlos) Whittaker’s message blast to his 3,000 readers on Twitter, a networking service that allows users to send short notes to any Internet-ready device.

“Literally within minutes of putting out a Twitter update, I think Mark’s blog got about a thousand hits,” Whittaker said.

“It was kind of like the beauty of social media, and all those people who think that social media and Web 2.0 can’t form real relationships — this kind of showed how it can.”

I just got an iPhone for Christmas and was able to follow and send well wishes to the Lamberth family while on the road to Northern California.  This media just blows me away.  Let’s keep them in our prayers.

Beverly Hills And Then Fresno

We are Home!!! But before we left Los Angeles, we stopped and had lunch with some friends that live in the 90210 zip code.  It was a beautiful day to be out and about, it almost felt like spring time.

About 2 miles from our friends house is this little park.  I wished I had taken a picture of the Azaleas, they were blooming!!!

Weight Watchers (9) Weigh-In

wwlogo2

ww-dlfjalds1I don’t wear as many hats as I used to when Carlos and Eddie were young, but this cartoon takes me back.

It’s been a busy month and the month is not over yet, but the worst has passed.  Going to bed late, cooking, cleaning and getting ready for this and that, has left me exhausted, I used to do it and not think anything of it.   This morning I woke up with a headache and easily I could of stayed and not go to weigh-in, but I did go (Yeah for me).

I don’t have my “WW Card” with me and Nancy’s printer is not working this morning, I did not want to pay for a meeting so I took my laptop with me and showed them my “card” on my computer desktop, they thought it was funny.

FRIDAY

  • Weight Gain/Lost:    +0.4

  • Total Weight Lost:     -4.6

I thought it was going to be worst.  I did go to a different place, so the scale may be different, but anyway, the scale was kind to me.

Tamales, Tamales And More Tamales

tamalescarneajos1

tamalescarne3

Every year we say “We re not making as much tamales as we did last year” and the numbers keep going up.  This year Papa and I went to the “Super” to get the Pork and did not realized that it did not have the bone, it was pure meat, so we needed to get more “masa” this year.

tamalesdayonetamalesdaytwo

This morning (Dec. 23) Papa and I went out at 6:15 AM to stand in line for the One Hour and Forty Five Minutes line to buy the masa.  This place sells the best “masa” in the area and every year the line grows and grows.  The one good thing is that it was not raining.   Every year I look foward to talking with the people in line, we share recipes, traditions, and stories about our families, and the Hour and Fourty Five minutes goes fast.

tamaleras1These were the helpers this year.  We had a great time making the tamales and the best thing was that Mama was with us.  Papa and Mama just got home from their trip to Monterrey, Mexico.

young-tamalera

When I was a little girl, I was not allowed to join the adults in making tamales, we are not making that mistake, we are starting them young.

threemoretamaleros

We take, women, men, 4 year old little girls, friends, relatives, just about anybody that wants to spend some time with us.  And the tamales came out deliciosos, all 600 of them.
