Christmas Ornaments

Every year when I put up the Christmas tree, many memories come to mind, specially memories of my boys growing up. The first horse is from the time Carlos was in kindergarten and Eddie was in pre-school.  The second horse was from the time the boys were still in elementary school, probably 1st and 3rd grade.  Every Christmas we tried to make a different ornament.  It was a wonderful time.

These are from a more recent time, my trip to London, 2005.  We were walking back to our hotel from Buckingham Palace and passed this little store.  They had all kinds of replicas from items that the Royal Family own.

No Disneyland for me on Friday

images3Nancy (my sister) and I were going to go to Disneyland on Friday and I was going home on Saturday, but we were exhausted and decided to postpone it till later in the season.  So we got to Fresno a day earlier than anticipated.

Driving to Fresno we could see the fog as we were going down from the grapevine – if I had not been driving I would had taken a picture of the fog, it looked ominous.

Have a great week-end.

And my Christmas Tree is legal now.

My Thoughts For Today

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was out of butter and decided to go to the store the morning of Thanksgiving, and while driving to the store Nancy and I saw a man on his way to who knows where.  The man had a sleeping bag on one hand and a bag on the other, my heart went out to him.
This man reminded me again of how blessed I am.  I am thankful that I have everything that is important in my life, a God who loves me,  my family that I love they love me.  What else can I ask for.
On Wednesday I went to my weigh-In in La Mirada close to where my sister Nancy lives, and if I was not doing this blog on my Weight Watchers accountability, I would not have gone to weigh in, but I did…
WEDNESDAY
  • Weight Gain/Lost: -0.2
  • Total Weight Lost:  -4.6
It’s not great but at least is going on the right direction.  Next wight-in is not going to be good (Am I setting myself up?)  we’ll see how it goes.
Even if you are on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.
We had another great Thanksgiving.  It was the smallest Thanksgiving crowd we have had but by the end of the evening we still counted 19.   We specially missed our parents, they are in Monterrey, Mexico and will be back, hopefully, before Christmas.
The weather was in the cool side, 65 degrees.  For the last 3 to 4 years we have been able to celebrate Thanksgiving outside.  It was a beautiful day.
Happy Thanksgiving
happy-thanksgiving
I’m thankful for my Heavenly Father... I’m thankful for my husband… I‘m thankful for my children and my daughter-in-loves, and my grandchildren... I’m thankful for my parents, sisters and brothers… and thankful for my sister-in-laws and brother in law… I’m thankful for God’s provision… These are just a few of the things I’m thankful for.
I told Fermin “Good thing I don’t mind eating out”.  The way we live our lives, we eat out so much that you would think I would mind, but I don’t, and if I ever get close to feeling that way I wait a couple of days and then I’m ready to eat out again.
I order the Spaghetti and Meatballs, replaced the spaghetti with the whole wheat linguine and I am able to stay with my Weight Watchers Plan.
I’m A Worrier, But…
let-us
I’m a worrier, but am learning not to be.  In times like these I tend to loose my focus.
Right now I should be doing the laundry and ironing but instead I’m sitting here in front of my computer thinking about how grateful I am.  In the middle of this economic time in our country, seeing investments go down, I am thankful.  I am thankful that I know The God that loves me.  If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.” Matthew 6:31-33  And then I rest.
breast-cancer4Soon after I started this blog I did a post about ”Breast Self Examination Day”.  I would like to continue this post every month.  If you don’t already do a monthly examination, it is my desire that this monthly post will encourage you to do it.  Please do it for yourself and for the ones who love you.   Let’s be a good example for our daughters and granddaughters.  If you need help on how to do the self examination, please click on the link for Breast Cancer Org.
